Why is high meat content food so important for older cats?
In order to keep them feeling their best, senior cat food needs to contain high-quality animal tissues and proteins, which are the easiest for older cats to digest. As cats age, it becomes harder for them to metabolise fats and carbohydrates, so providing adequate meat content is even more important. Because we only use whole meats and wild fish, Untamed recipes aren't just high protein - they're also packed with essential nutrients, including taurine, arginine, and omega fatty acids. This makes Untamed particularly suited to supporting the nutritional needs of ageing cats.
Why do you only use human-grade ingredients?
In order to provide the best wet food for older cats, we need to use the best ingredients. The human grade, whole meats we use in our wet food are high protein and highly digestible, meaning your senior kitty can absorb and use more of the nutrients in the food. This is in contrast to commercial cat food, which is stuffed full of questionable ingredients like animal derivatives, vegetable proteins, sugars and fillers.
Is Untamed hypoallergenic?
All our wet food recipes are vet-formulated to ensure they are free from common allergens. For senior cats that are particularly sensitive, we recommend our single-protein source recipes like Chocka Chicken and Tuck-in Tuna. What’s the deal with animal derivatives?
Animal derivatives are, unfortunately, one of the most commonly used ingredients in cat food. It’s a catch-all term that can legally include low quality animal parts like hooves and beaks, which are poorly digested and low in nutrients. No matter where they fall on the ingredient list, we suggest cats of all ages avoid them. At Untamed, we are committed to not using animal derivatives and we choose to exclusively use human-grade, nutritious high-protein whole meats so your kitten can grow as healthily and happily as possible.
How are Untamed meals made?
Our high protein recipes are made using fresh, human-grade meats. We think our wildly delicious whole meats (such as tasty tuna steak, sumptuous salmon fillet, and choice chicken breast) are the best soft cat food for older cats, and the closest thing to nature you can feed them.
